The American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management (AAHAM) was founded in 1968 as the American Guild of Patient Account Management. Initially formed to serve the interests of hospital patient account managers, AAHAM has evolved into a national membership association that represents a broad-based constituency of health care professionals.
AAHAM is dedicated to the professional development of its members. Publications, conferences, seminars, benchmarking, professional certification and networking offer numerous opportunities for increasing the skills and knowledge that are necessary to function effectively in today’s health care environment.
AAHAM actively represents the interests of health care administrative management professional through a compressive program of legislative and regulatory monitoring and its participation in industry groups such as ANSI, DISA, and NUBC. ANNUAL NATIONAL INSTITUTE
Each fall, the Annual National Institute provides two and a half days of concentrated educational sessions for administrative management professionals. Drawing from expert faculty throughout the health care industry, the Institute is the most comprehensive health care administrative management conference in the U.S.
FRAUD AND ABUSE
The compliance examination, developed by AAHAM’s national certification committee, is available for sale to hospitals and clinics across the U.S.
The exchange of information between you and your colleagues is one of the most important benefits of being a member of AAHAM. Through Face-to-face meetings, networking and other opportunitites for interaction with peers, AAHAM members are able to expand their knowledge and awareness.
The Annual National Institute offers and excellent atmosphere for peer exchange. Utilizing small group discussions, interactive general sessions, and informal social gatherings, the Institute .encourages the development of one-on-one professional relationships and mutual support.
AAHAM is an organization comprised of networks of people, focusing on common interest and concerns in health care administrative management. National AAHAM’s Legislative Network serves the special purpose of providing an immediate-response mechanism for addressing legislative issues. Local chapters also offer opportunities for peer exchange and fellowship, but with more of a geographical emphasis.
